Zanele Victoria Ratshefola (18) is an EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA 2019 semi-finalist. At such a tender age she is representing the Eastern Cape Province and she is flourishing. Zanele has always been someone who believed in taking opportunities that are presented to her. She is someone who loves exploring her creativity, especially through pageants or dance. In 2018, Zanele was a contestant in her high school’s pageant. Although she did not emerge victoriously, she appreciated the experience and gained self-confidence. Zanele realized she had nothing to prove but only to improve and aspire for more. Participating in her school’s pageant made her aspire to become a contestant in a national pageant one, and that day is now! When she saw a post on Facebook for EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA 2019, she
knew the universe was aligning her with her dreams. A few clicks later, with determination and hard work; we have our selves an 18-year-old Semi-Finalist.
Zanele is quoted saying, “EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA is a platform for me to inspire young women to carry themselves with respect and exude self-confidence in whatever they do.” She continued, “What I love the most about being a part of EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA is the inclusivity and diversity of the pageant, as this is an important aspect especially when it comes to women empowerment.”
Such wise words. As part of her journey in empowering others, this young woman has created a project called Giving Grace, which is a charity where people can donate items such as clothing, food, and toiletries to the
disadvantaged. One of the challenges Zanele has faced includes but not limited to, being in a new province and trying to get the support of the people in the area. For Zanele, meeting Reigning EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA 2019, was one of the highlights of being a part of EMPRESS SOUTH AFRICA 2019.
